Kyle Altenbern
ND
Dr. Altenbern is a licensed naturopathic physician and provider with Canby Clinic. He is originally from Wyoming and holds a bachelor’s in biology and earned his Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, Oregon.
With a deep passion for people, he focuses on understanding each individual and helping them navigate the complex landscape of medical decision-making and its effects on overall health. Grounded in a belief in the intelligent design of the human body, Dr. Altenbern practices by the core naturopathic principles that promote the body’s innate ability to heal itself. He is committed to guiding patients through a thoughtful care journey—employing the least invasive therapies first and progressing to more advanced interventions only when necessary. His approach emphasizes balance, education, and empowerment, ensuring that each patient feels supported and informed every step of the way.
Outside of his practice, Dr. Altenbern enjoys a rich and active life with his wife and daughters. Whether playing soccer or tennis, camping under the stars, or setting off on new adventures, he values time spent making lasting memories with his family.
Laura Mouriño
ND
Dr. Laura Mouriño’s life history juxtaposes two worlds of medicine. As a young child, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent multiple surgeries that left her with a 50-50 chance of developing a severe disability or possible paralysis. Her mother, having come from a family of curanderos, or natural healers, from the Dominican Republic, used natural remedies to promote strength and healing throughout the process, greatly improving her child’s chance to fully recover without incident. Thanks to both the surgeons’ work and the treatments from her mother, she recovered wonderfully.
Longing to connect with her ancestral roots, Dr. Mouriño was elated when she discovered naturopathic medicine, enabling her to study Western medicine that also supports the body’s innate wisdom to create balance and true healing at National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
After graduating in 2018, Dr. Mouriño did a three-year residency in Cleveland, Ohio and began her advanced training in metabolic terrain medicine with Drs. Nasha Winters and Erin Holston Singh, receiving her metabolic terrain with a focus in cancer care and naturopathic residency certifications in 2021. As a bilingual clinician, she revels in the ‘doctor as teacher’ aspect of naturopathic medicine and enjoys creating awareness around the many ways being healthy can be simple from the (w)holistic terrain perspective. By working with individuals on the basics such as their nutrition and lifestyle, she encourages them to make feasible health-conscious decisions that guarantee a positive impact on their lives.
Dr. Mouriño relies on the philosophies of naturopathic medicine and metabolic terrain patterns that not only identify the root cause of illness but also address the whole person.
In her free time, she enjoys adventuring with her family and friends in the Pacific Northwest, Latin dancing, and exploring how to make different cuisines both delicious and nutritious.
Erin Walker
ND
Accepting new patients
Dr. Walker first discovered natural medicine while working with her aunt, a chiropractor in Minnesota. Dr. Walker instantly knew that natural medicine was her calling. She moved to Portland to attend the National College of Natural Medicine, earning her doctorate in 2007. Dr. Walker completed her residency at Salem Naturopathic Clinic in 2009. She and her husband Brant Walker established Canby Clinic in 2010 as a part-time country clinic. Word of mouth from satisfied patients quickly spread and Canby Clinic has since grown into a full-time, multi-physician clinic serving many patients with a variety of conditions. Dr. Walker believes in the tenets of naturopathic medicine. She strongly feels that her role as a physician, in addition to striving to find the cause of illness, is to serve her patients. She values establishing meaningful, respectful relationships with patients and works to meet patients where they are at. Dr. Walker also believes it is important for patients to understand their bodies. She explains what test and image results mean and offers a variety of treatments, allowing patients to choose therapies that best fit their lifestyle, health and beliefs. Dr. Walker is deeply honored to work with each and every one of her patients.
Raelyn
Clinic Manager
Raelyn joined the Canby Clinic team in 2021 as the Back Office Coordinator. She quickly grew to love the role, as it gave her the opportunity to learn more about the exceptional care the clinic provides while meeting and serving the wonderful people of Canby and the surrounding
communities.
Raelyn’s favorite part of her job is getting to know patients and their families and hearing their stories. Working at the clinic has been a meaningful opportunity, and she is grateful to be part of each patient’s journey.
Having lived in Oregon her entire life, Raelyn enjoys spending time outdoors and experiencing all four beautiful seasons. When she is not outside, you can find her singing at church, reading, painting, or cooking for her loved ones. Most of all, she treasures quality time with her husband, Louis, their cat Hobbes, their dog Delta, and their growing family.
Jocelyn Lara
Medical Assistant
Accepting new patients
Dr. Jo is a naturopathic medical graduate of the National University of Health Sciences and a member of the care team at Canby Clinic, currently in the licensure process. Born and raised in Chicago, she relocated to the Pacific Northwest to further her career in integrative primary care, with a focus on metabolic health and lifestyle medicine. She approaches healthcare with steadiness, precision, and deep respect for the patient experience.
Her path into medicine was shaped by navigating her mother’s cancer care and witnessing firsthand how medical oversights, rushed systems, and poor communication can negatively impact patients. These experiences formed a clear conviction that continues to guide her work: patients should never feel invisible within the system meant to care for them.
She values the thoughtful integration of conventional and naturopathic medicine, recognizing the importance of both clinical rigor and whole person care.
Fluent in conversational and medical Spanish, she understands that when medicine is already complex, language barriers can deepen fear and misunderstanding. Her goal is not to overwhelm or impress, but to serve, ensuring patients are met with dignity, clarity, and presence
Tanya
Patient Care Coordinator
Tanya is an Oregon native who has 20 years of experience in the medical, laboratory, and insurance fields.
Her passion for natural medicine started 17 years ago when she began experiencing her own health issues that left her with more questions than answers.
Outside of the clinic, she is passionate about genetics for individualized healthcare,
neurodivergence, soul restoration, and freedom found in Christ. She loves being out in nature, taking trips to the beach, and meandering around local outdoor markets with her partner and their beloved pit bull, Liberty.
Garrett
Patient Care Coordinator
Accepting new patients
Garrett is a dedicated Patient Care Coordinator who brings energy and personality to every
interaction. As the first point of contact, he excels at answering phones and helping patients
feel heard, comfortable, and cared for from the very beginning. Garrett genuinely enjoys
connecting with people, and his friendly, conversational approach makes even stressful
situations feel a little easier.
Mason
IV and Lab Coordinator
As the IV Coordinator, Mason supports patients through their IV therapy with an approach rooted in comfort, education, and advocacy. He believes every patient should have a choice in their healthcare and works closely with providers to ensure each treatment is thoughtfully coordinated, safely delivered, and aligned with the patient’s individual needs. Mason is dedicated to creating a calm, supportive environment where patients feel heard, cared for, and at ease within a healing environment.
Isabel
Lab Technician
Accepting new patients
Isabel is the lab tech at Canby Clinic. She is a certified phlebotomist who enjoys getting to know patients and helping to make lab visits feel a little less stressful. Isabel became interested in
phlebotomy through her curiosity about how lab tests work behind the scenes, and she still loves being part of that process every day. She likes to keep things relaxed and approachable, and she does her best to meet each person where they are at, so they feel comfortable and
cared for.
In her role, Isabel enjoys the mix of hands-on work and problem-solving, and she takes pride in being gentle, efficient, and attentive to detail. Whether she is helping someone who is nervous about needles or just in for a quick draw, she tries to make the experience as smooth as possible.
Outside of work, Isabel likes playing games on her Switch, hanging out with her husband and little brother, and watching cheesy medical dramas.
