Dr. McClanen earned her Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in 2006. Additionally, she took two sabbaticals during her tenure at NCNM where she studied both botanical medicines and massage therapy in depth. Prior to becoming a primary care physician, Dr. McClanen completed her undergraduate training in Biology at the University of Denver. Also, she has worked with patients for more than 15 years first as a chiropractic assistant, then later as an herbalist and massage therapist.
Dr. McClanen aspired to be an actress as a teenager. She was a character actor in several commercials and an education video. She did voice overs. Her ultimate goal was to play a starring role as a doctor on a medical show. Working towards that goal she realized she’d rather have that role in real life. Preferring the quiet life, she now spends her time micro-farming, cooking, and spending time with her husband and two children ages 12 and 9 years old.
